JULY NEWS OF DISCIPLES WOMEN’S MINISTRIES

We had a good response to our June service project, providing new clothing up to size six months for underprivileged infants served by St. Elizabeth’s “A Link to Love” project.  If you forgot to contribute, it is not too late.  Take your gifts to the church office with the container labeled “CWF.”   Thanks to everyone who participated.

At the May 20 meeting of the DWM/CWF Executive Board, treasurer Marbrey Hedges reported such a good balance in the checking account that the group decided to give additional amounts to the following causes:

*  The CYF mission trip to needed additional funds, while the adult mission        trip will need no extra money this year.  Instead of giving $200 to each group, the DWM gave the total amount budgeted for both trips plus an additional $100 to the youth mission trip.

*  The budgeted $150 for the First Christian Church pantry had already been given, but the need is great for people who come to the church for help.  Janey Burns volunteered to grocery shop for the pantry and keep it supplied.  Our DWM will donate an additional $500 for these items.

*  The amount collected for the mission project was $250.64; the Board decided to add $250 to this amount for a total contribution of $500.64.

*  The FCC kitchen needed a few supplies, so $100 was donated for that purpose.

*  As more information is available, a contribution may be made to a prison ministry at the Luther Luckett facility.

Although there are no DWM/CWF group meetings in July and August, the special brunch meeting at which the 2007-2008 officers will be installed is scheduled for on Saturday, August 25, at Field House. Cost will be $7.00 per person.  Please sign up in the church office indicating you plan to attend so that we will have an accurate number to give those providing the meal.  Janey Burns, 2nd Vice President, is again coordinating this popular event.  All ladies at FCC are invited to attend.
